When Bill Clinton and McAfee Antivirus Computer Software founder John McAfee made the decision to engage in questionable sexual choices; their integrity and ability to be trusted went right out the window. And unfortunately for both men, their legacy – as well as the changes or products they developed will forever be questioned by the general public.
The Clinton/Lewinsky scandal has gone down in history as a prime example of how making poor choices can land you in seriously deep trouble- even if you’re President of the United States. This scandal between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky began in the mid 90’s, as Lewinsky began an internship at the White House when Clinton was President.
Lewinsky and Clinton became romantically involved behind closed doors during this time. Lewinsky confided the affair to Linda Tripp, who was one of her co-workers. What Lewinsky did not know was that some of her conversations with Clinton were being recorded by Tripp.
The news came out and spread like wild fire. Clinton denied the affair time after time, and his lies and deceit about the scandal, plus other matters, led to his impeachment in 1998. Clinton, a man that America looked to for leadership, integrity, honesty, and fairness, failed everyone.
McAfee, who created the McAfee Antivirus Protection software at the height of the computer boom of the mid-1980 also has engaged in questionable sexual decisions. Recently it was reported by Reuters, Fox News, CBS News and other reliable news agencies that he and his live-in 17-year old girlfriend are wanted in connection to allegations of drug manufacturing, selling and distribution as well as being prime suspects in the murder of McAfee’s neighbor in Belize.
McAfee has always been an eccentric individual; however engaging in an underage relationship – regardless of the country he lives is simply un-acceptable in today’s society. Some people call it the downward slope that McAfee has been on since leaving his company with $100 Million plus in his bank account. However, through years of alleged sexual abuse of minors, drug use and manufacturing under his belt, his entire lifetime of decision making skills must be questioned.
This is where it impacts his former company, McAfee Antivirus Software. If he is capable of making poor decisions like the news is reporting today, one must question that this is a habitual habit and that this same method was used to develop the basic software package.
The entire computer software industry is based on trust – 100% of the time. Computer users need to know that the people who developed this reliable software are strong willed and ethical people who make positive decisions; in their personal life but also in the board room.
McAfee has proven that he was incapable of doing either. And as a result, he, along with Bill Clinton will forever be labeled as men with lack of integrity.
